semi serious question. i went lightheaded watching a surgery video. is that a dealbreaker? do people get over it or is it a sign this isnt for me?

Not a dealbreaker. First stick I did on the training arm I had to sit down after, on a fake arm. It fades fast with exposure. Your brain just hasn’t filed blood under normal yet.

What you felt is a vasovagal reaction, and it is common and almost always settles with graded exposure. Meet it on your terms. Watch, then assist, then do, in small steps, eating and hydrated each time. Simulation is perfect for this, because nobody is harmed while your nervous system catches up. I have taught plenty of students who went pale early on and now work in theatre without a thought. Don’t write yourself off over a reflex.

Can confirm. I nearly went down over what was basically a paper cut. Few months later it’s a non-event. Your body is dramatic, it gets over itself.
