Welcome. This is the room where the Academy stops being a set of video lessons and starts being people.

Use it for the things a lesson can’t give you. Ask the question you think is too basic. Show the suture that came out crooked and ask why. Tell us you’re not sure medicine is the right call, because plenty of people here have stood exactly there.

Two house rules. Be kind, because everyone starts as a beginner. And keep real patient details out of it. Other than that, the floor is yours.

Hi everyone, currently drowning in orgo and trying to get my shadowing hours in around my job schedule lol. This is honestly such a relief to find, half my questions feel too dumb to ask my premed advisor but I bet someone here has been through the exact same thing.

Dr Scheepers, appreciate you actually being around in here. Gonna take you up on that when I inevitably get stuck. Excited to actually be part of something instead of just watching videos alone at 11pm before work the next morning haha

Hi Naledi, welcome. I promise this space fills a gap you didn’t even realise you were feeling until you had it. I was doing this whole thing quite alone for a long time, googling things at odd hours and pretending in group chats that I understood more than I did.

Ask whatever you need to here. There’s no such thing as too far behind, just people at different points on the same road.

Hi everyone, Fatima here, final year and counting down the months at this point. Honestly wish something like this existed when I started, would’ve saved me a lot of 2am googling that just made me more anxious.

If you’re early on and feeling behind, you’re not. I still remember thinking everyone else understood things I didn’t, turns out most of them were faking it too. Ask the basic questions, they’re usually not that basic.

Good to see this space exists, will be lurking and hopefully useful when I can be.
