Hi, I am 17 and really want to study medicine and specialize in international radiology.
I am having a hard time thinking that I can do this, I don’t want to put my mother under any financial pressure, so I have to work hard to get bursary, and try to get all the free knowledge I can about medicine.

Welcome Zahnia. Quick note on the site side since that’s my patch: if you register an account you get access to the free Medical Terminology course without paying anything. You can find it in My Courses.

Have a look at the bursary databases for South African medical students, NSFAS included.

On the bursary hunt itself, apply early and apply wide. Health Professions Council and provincial health departments run their own schemes with earlier deadlines than people expect, some close before matric finals are even out.

Can’t help you with the radiology specifics. Only thing that comes to mind is that it has a high risk of AI taking jobs so if you’re going to commit years to studies it’s something worth investigating.

I’ve sent you something per email. You can attach your certificates to support your applications. They may help to show you’re going the extra mile. They may also come in handy when applying to med school, no guarantees but every bit helps to stand out.
